Puffy Purple Flowers

Day 24.

Today was the perfect day for a picnic.

Kelsey and I woke up kind of late (we haven't been able to sleep in for a while) and took the bus to Harrods to get food for our picnic. I wish everyone could experience Harrods Food Halls because they are really hard to explain but they are amazing.

After we got our food, we took bus to Regent's Park. Regent's Park is literally the best.

We set up our planet in a bed of pretty flowers.

This was the best key lime pie I've ever had. I'm sad it got all smashed, but it was still divine.

I love picnics so much.

After we were done eating, we walked around the park for a while.

Cute furry geese.

Perfect day.

These trees were beautiful.

I love fountains.

And these cute purple flower puffs.

America needs more parks.

Tomorrow, my roommates and I are going to get real tourist-y, so don't judge us.

Cheers!

Doctor What the Whaaaat?

Day 23.

Today was very interesting.

Kelsey, Ali and I woke up really early to catch our coach to Cardiff. I was really excited because I love Wales a lot, but I was not really looking forward to our 3.5 hours bus ride.

Kelsey and I waiting for the bus to start.

The bus ride wasn't too bad because I slept most of the way

The Cardiff Central train station.

Okay, so, the main reason we went to Cardiff was because Kelsey is a rather obsessive Doctor Who fan, and Cardiff is where a lot of the show is filmed. Cardiff also has the Doctor Who Experience. I have never seen an episode of Doctor Who in my entire life, I just went along because I like Wales and I told Kelsey I would take pictures for her. Even though I knew absolutely nothing about the show, I was excited to see what all the hype was about.

One of the first things I realized about Doctor Who, was that it is a children's show.  I thought the show was supposed to be kind of scary, but we walked into the building and there were a ton a kids.

This is apparently called a Dalek.

I watched about a 30 second clip of the show in the gift shop.

First, we had to wait in line to go through the experience part of the Doctor Who Experience. It was was kind of like the first part of the Haunted Mansion ride in Disney World where they walk you through a couple of rooms and the characters talk to you. It was actually pretty fun!

After the experience is over we walk though the studios to see original props and costumes they used in the show.
A Tardis.

I don't know much about Doctor Who, but I do know that I love Matt Smith. I also know that this scary statue does not do his hair justice.

Costumes from all of the previous Doctors.

The Face of Boe...

These are the scariest dolls I've ever seen.

I'm definitely going to start watching the show when I get back to Traverse City. I really want to know if I'll like it!

Doctor Who was fun, but my favorite thing about Wales is the language. I am convinced the Welsh just made it up for fun. It literally makes no sense.

Here are some examples:

But apparently Allan means exit so that's fun.

Then we just sort of walked around Cardiff because it is just so cute.

Also, Wales has the best flag ever.

There was a little market.

I really wanted to by this sweater but I didn't...

Found this really awesome hat.

The main reason I went to Wales was to get my Toffee Waffles. They are thin crunchy waffle biscuits filled with soft butter toffee cream... so yeah... They are my favorite.

We walked around the Cardiff Castle.

It was a really awesome bell tower.

And really awesome animal gargoyles.

Today was great!

Tomorrow's supposed to be beautiful so Kelsey and I are going to have picnic!

Cymru am byth!

Sutton Hoo: Exotic Luxuries.

Day 22.

Today was much better than yesterday. Yesterday was pretty terrible. Pretty much anything that could have gone wrong for me did, so that's why I did not blog about it.

Today, I woke up and went to Primark to buy an umbrella because I lost mine. After Primark, I went to meet Kelsey at the British Museum. This museum is pretty cool, but it is gargantuan so can be pretty overwhelming.

The main entrance is beautiful but the lighting it super green, as you can these by these pictures...

First, we walked through the Ancient Egypt Rooms.

Seated Sakhmet.

Part of the Sphinx's beard!

Ramesses II.

One of the most famous artifacts in The British Museum is the Rosetta Stone. Pretty cool!

The Parthenon Galleries, is probably my favorite part of the museum.

Reconstruction of the The Nereid Monument.

The Parthenon Galleries hold most the remaining sculptures from The Parthenon in Athens, Greece.

I like to call this one: Puyol trampling Messi to death. Anna is the only person who will understand that..

Sculpture blows my mind.

This room is so beautiful.

Then we went through the Enlightenment room.
I want this room in my house.

A room of walls line with books.

Hercules.

Then we went to look at some mummies.
I don't really know if there's a difference between a sarcophagus and a coffin, but I think this is a sarcophagus.

Mummy.

This is a Cleopatra.

But apparently not the famous one.

There were so many people outside of the museum!

Ummm, then for lunch (after being super cultured at the museum) we decided to be stupid Americans and go to Chiplote. The food in London is perfect, except they literally have no Mexican food and I really wanted a burrito.

But then after lame Chipotle, we went to Chatime, which is an awesome bubble tea place in Soho. I love bubble tea so much.

The woman at the register gave me a death glare for trying to take a picture of the shop, so these are only pictures I could get.

We were literally the only white people in the store, it was awesome.

My Lemon Yogurt Smoothie was fantastic!

Tonight, I had to do laundry... This is where I do laundry.

Laundry is just the worst. It cost $7.00.

Tomorrow, Kelsey and I are going to Cardiff, Wales. I'm excited, I love Wales so much. Christian Bale is Welsh, and apparently there is a bunch of Dr. Who stuff to see in Cardiff. I've never seen Dr. Who before but Kelsey is obsessed with it, so it should be interesting!

Peace out.
